To be honest, today was tough. I had to make an incredibly difficult (and adult) choice. As a Beachbody Coach, there is one trip per year that can be earned based on our performance and success in our business - the 2017 trip is to the Dominican Republic.

It's been a Bucket List location for me, so it couldn't have been more serendipitous that this year's trip was heading to this spot. I registered, have been working hard to hit the requirements and today I had to cancel my spot on the trip.
Why?
Well, with family planning on the forefront of my mind, this was one of the tough decisions that I knew I'd have to make. Even when planning it, While I'm sure I'll still be at a point in the pregnancy where travel will be safe, the whole "Zika thing" is the biggest concern. In doing primary research, the CDC has placed DR in the Level 2 Alert with the disclaimer that "Women who are pregnant:Should not travel to any area of the Dominican Republic below 6,500 feet (and basically the whole country is below 6,500ft)"
Now, could I be fine? Completely. Perhaps I could slather enough mosquito spray and avoid bites (and even if I got bitten maybe it wouldn't be dangerous) but honestly - is the risk worth it? Nope. I'm fortunate enough that I'm fairly confident that I will have an opportunity later in life.
Is it a bummer? ABSOLUTELY! I had to miss last year's cruise for a different reason and the FOMO was real - I know that'll be the case this year as well. But, I made the tough decision because I knew it was what was best for me and my (hopeful) future family.
So I guess this was the first of many decisions that are going to be made with someone else (or even just the idea of someone else)'s best interest in the driver seat. Welcome to parenthood?
